Due to extraordinary demand, and our first Vintage Film Night selling out before we’d even written a press release, here comes The Sequel!
Our second evening of publicity films will again span the 20th Century, featuring Margate in a starring role. We plan to screen the very popular 1919 film Magical Margate again, and we’ve got our technical experts working on getting us an even better print.
This treasure will be backed by a whole new programme, with films so far confirmed including: A Date With the Sun, a 1960s Margate film narrated by the great Kenneth Horne (what brought him trolling in here?); At the Sign of the Ram and the Gate, a fictional tale of a Fleet Street journo sent to convalesce in Ramsgate in 1957; and some 1930s’ footage of the Grotto.
The Walpole Bay Hotel’s beautiful Ballroom is the ideal venue – so we’re going back again. With Nick Dermott as your compere for the evening.

All proceeds from Seaside Delights will go to the Friends of the Shell Grotto. Tickets are free to Friends of the Shell Grotto, £4.50 for non-members. Pre-booking is advised on 01843 220008. We are now SOLD OUT!!!
